Barung Landcare is offering the opportunity to get a paid qualification in Conservation and Ecosystem Management whilst learning practical field conservation skills, as well as obtaining recognised industry tickets. The positions are full time, Mon- Fri, paid under the National Training Award and the programme runs for 24 weeks. Applicants must be:
- Aged 15 years or older and no longer at school.
- Able to meet citizen, residency and visa requirements to undertake a traineeship.
Successful candidates will be;
- Positive, enthusiastic and reliable
- Physically fit to perform labouring tasks and motivated to work in a variety of challenging outdoor environments
- Able to start work at 6:30am Monday to Friday
- Be ready to start work on 25-Mar-2024
Graduates will gain the following:
- Certificate I in Conservation and Ecosystem Management
- Construction Safety Card (White Card)
- ACDC Licence
- Senior First Aid
- Chainsaw Ticket
As well as practical experience in:
- South-East Queensland native and exotic plant identification
- Knowledge and practical skills in weed control/management techniques
- Native plant propagation and nursery management techniques
- Experience working in a team environment
- The correct use and maintenance of a variety of hand tools and equipment
- Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures
