About the role:

Davies Stewart is happy to once again partner with the Ascot Group to recruit for a Construction Estimator. This is an amazing opportunity to join a progressive team that is motivated to achieve incredible results in the South Australian market, working on commercial construction projects across Aged Care Facilities, Schools, Hospitals and many more. Here is your chance to lead the way and join a leading commercial building and maintenance refurbishment business that is committed to providing the highest quality and value added solutions to a wide range of clients.

Duties for the successful incumbent will involve developing and maintaining relationships with prospective clients, sub contractors and suppliers to promote further tender invitations and provide clearly identified price build-ups to the construction team. The Construction Estimator will further ensure that clients are provided with detailed, accurate and competitive quotations for a variety of maintenance and construction projects; ensuring the project scope is met. Lastly, delivering the projects worked on to the highest of quality and operating with the utmost integrity to maintain the excellent standards from the Ascot Group.

This amazing opportunity has been newly created due to significant growth in both size and projects year on year across multiple states in Australia. With a healthy scope of work for 2024 and beyond. The role will report directly to the Project Manager and work closely with the whole operations team.

Duties:

• Working with to understand construction plans and define scope of works.
• Managing all estimating and pricing activities.
• Coordinating multiple estimates simultaneously and defining areas of responsibility.
• Carrying out accurate quantity take-offs and producing bills of quantities.
• Reviewing material and labour requirements and selecting trades based on most cost-effective construction methods.
• Reviewing and approving finalised costs estimates and submitting to clients for selection. including presenting.
• Prospecting existing and new client relationships.
• Cultivate and manage key relationships that support business activities.
• Prepare reports for Client and Internal stake holders as requested.
• Reviewing and updating proposal information into the estimating and customer relationship management tool.
• Managing the timely submissions of all estimations. proposals and tenders.
• Reviewing and producing daily. weekly and ad hoc reports as required.
• Carrying out work in accordance with Ascot Group's Code of Conduct and other policies and procedures.

Skills & Experience:

• Relevant qualification in Estimating or similar.
• Maintain a full Australian (Relevant State or Territory) Driver's Licence.
• Maintain clean Police and Working with Children's record
• Demonstrated estimating experience. on a range of commercial and residential maintenance and construction projects.
• Extensive knowledge of the building process. material components and building codes and regulations.
• Ability to do manual take off's from plans. specifications and/or drawings.
• Extensive experience preparing final estimating reports which include budgets. schedules and selected subcontracted trades.
• Strong knowledge of industry practices. procedures. and market trends.
• Proficient computer skills; including Microsoft Word. Excel. Project. as well as various estimating software programs.
• Demonstrate understanding of project financial theory.
• Trade work experience on tools (desirable).
• Demonstrate ability to work within an environment of evolving priorities and tasks. while maintaining high attention to detail.
• Demonstrate ability to be solution focused.
• Excellent negotiation. influencing and communication skills; well-spoken and personable. strong written skills and ability to build relationships with diverse personalities.
• Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Self-motivated and ability to work constructively in a team.
