Working in partnership with the NSW Government, the Parklife Metro consortium is working on an exciting new metro rail infrastructure project in Greater Western Sydney.
Comprising, Plenary, RATP Dev, Siemens and Webuild, the private sector partners are looking to build their metro rail expertise to deliver this city-shaping project, which will be delivered under a Public Private Partnership model and will provide a major economic stimulus for Western Sydney.
The Role:
Reporting to the Technical Manager, the Construction Phase Services (CPS) Manager will deliver a robust and cost-effective design input for the project during the final issue design and the Construction Phase, meeting the scope and technical requirements while in line with budget and program constraints.

Responsibilities:
- Manage Design Consultants to ensure the design deliverables prepared by the consultants meet the client’s brief and are within the approved budget constraints.
- Ensure that the design deliverables prepared by the consultants comply with legislative and authority requirements including certification, occupation and assurance documentation.
- Monitor the progress of issue of all design deliverables by the consultant team including required certificates
- Establish and manage a design change RFI tracking system which covers the project design change post-IFC documentation and sets out all relevant milestones for design tracking, and the relevant design review & approval process, including third-party design reviews in accordance with the design and construction program
- Participate in the interaction between design and construction resources during the design change, including effective coordination meetings
- Assist in the development of an approvals program for design changes as a sub-set of the design program
- Monitor progress of design changes and approval including designer resources and deliverables. Prepare and issue weekly reports for design changes and at other intervals as required
- Participate in design reviews for design changes as part of the design review and approval process to achieve internal signoff of the design change
- Ensure any changes in scope, design or methodology are communicated to the Design Director and or construction personnel to ensure changes are incorporated in the construction planning.
- Liaise with the Interface Director for construction requested design change
- Participate in regular reviews with the Project Teams to evaluate the alternative design and engineering proposals and ensure they are within the project budget and timeframe
- Management of construction queries and design change in accordance with the Design Plan
- Assist with the procurement of necessary design certifications, verification and third-party approvals
- Ensure that the latest approved construction documentation is available for use
- Management of shop drawings and vendor documentation during the Construction Phase.
- Maintain the Safety in Design and safety assurance process to effectively manage safety risk from design change through to construction.
Criteria:
- Bachelors of Civil Engineering is mandatory
- 10-15 years of experience in the construction/engineering environment
- Extensive design experience with exposure and delivery of civil projects
- Knowledge of design compliance and reporting procedures/processes and leadership in the communication of requirements
- Knowledge of document & record management/compliance processes & procedures
- Experience in developing, analysing and reporting on performance, compliance, and non-conformance
- Experience in interpretation and application of contracts
- Significant site experience preferably with the application of the design change process
