Job description

  • Central Adelaide Local Health Network  
  • Total Indicative Remuneration Salary   MD-2 $492,398  - $641,471(subject to private practice agreement)
  • Temporary up to 31/12/24 and part-time working 22.5 hours per week                                

About the role

  • Contribute to the provision of high quality consultative and procedural care for patients under the care of the Clinical Gastroenterology Unit by serving as a Consultant Clinical Gastroenterologist
  • Contributing to the general Gastroenterology Service and after hours emergency Gastroenterology Service.
  • Provide specialized input into the Gastrointestinal Inflammatory Bowel Disease Service with responsibility for IBD service delivery and development
  • Oversee the collection and audit of clinical data and monitoring outcomes and the development of an active clinical research program in the area of IBD with the Department.
  • Assigning and supervising the clinical practice of trainee medical officers, registrars and fellows.
  • Be involved in medical research activities

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent.
  • Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.
  • FRACP in Gastroenterology (or equivalent) in area of specialty.
  • Demonstrated participation in continuing medical education since attaining specialist qualification.

Desired Characteristics

  • Advanced experience in inflammatory bowel disease
  • Experience in managing chronic hepatological conditions
  • Experience in development and conduct of industry sponsored clinical trials
  • Experience in development and conduct of investigator-initiated clinical trials
  • Leadership skills and experience
  • Team management experience

Essential Requirements:

  • Current National Police Clearance (NPC)
  • Working with Children Check
  • Immunisation screening as indicated in the role description. SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.
