This is a Recruitment Pool for Fixed Term Full Time, Fixed Term Part Time (minimum 0.8 FTE) and Sessional appointments for up to 5 years with the possibility of extension(s).

About this role
The Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) Medical Oncology Department provides a comprehensive consultative and management service in cancer medicine to the Western Australian community. This is achieved through:

  • Provision of inpatient, day care and outpatient consultative and treatment services for adult cancers.
  • Multidisciplinary care through clinics in all adult cancer streams, including state-wide Medical Oncology services in neuro-oncology and gynaecological cancer.
  • Participation in national and international clinical trials to evaluate strategies for the treatment of people with cancers.
  • Participation in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in cancer medicine.
This position provides specialist medical services to patients as part of a multidisciplinary team; promotes patient safety and quality of care; provides leadership, orientation, supervision, and education, where relevant, for doctors in training, Health Service Medical Practitioners, and other health workers; promotes, develops, and participates in clinical research including clinical trials; in collaboration with the Head of Department and other Consultants, works to achieve national, state and NMHS performance standards and targets. Works within the scope of clinical practice as defined and recommended by the SCGH Medical Credentialing and Scope of Clinical Practice Committee.
This role reports to the Head of Department, Medical Oncology.

Area Profile
SCGH is one of Australia's leading teaching tertiary hospitals. Located at the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre 4km from Perth city centre, SCGH provides a comprehensive range of clinical services including trauma, emergency and critical care, orthopaedics, general medicine, general surgery, and cardiac care. It is home to WA's only comprehensive cancer centre - the largest cancer treatment centre in the State - and is the State's principal hospital for neurosurgery and liver transplants.
