Your new role
This is a hybrid manager research and client consulting role. The focus of this role is to provide investment consultant services to JANA’s institutional investor base and research for the Infrastructure Research Team.
This role can either be based in JANA’s Sydney or Melbourne office, reporting to a Senior Consultant. This is a full-time position; however we will consider 4 working days for the right candidate.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
Investment Research into infrastructure investments
- Conduct due diligence on infrastructure co-investments and unlisted infrastructure funds across sectors including transportation, renewable energy, energy transition and digital infrastructure across major geographies
- Coverage of global unlisted infrastructure fund market and investment managers, with a view to identifying investment opportunities for clients
- Stay updated on global infrastructure market on areas such as transaction pricing, investment and industry trends, and regulatory developments
- Contribute to overall investment strategy and asset allocation for client infrastructure portfolios
- In conjunction with the Sustainability team, develop JANA’s approach to managing sustainability risks and meeting sustainability objectives for client infrastructure portfolios
- Provision of advisory services for JANA’s clients on infrastructure portfolios such as portfolio construction, co-investment structure, and deployment strategy
- Monitor and review performance of investments and unlisted infrastructure funds for JANA’s clients
- Prepare investment notes on investments and portfolio strategy and present them to senior internal and external stakeholders
- Engaging directly with clients on important and challenging investment issues to develop and address key priorities
- Draw on JANA’s unique capabilities in research, sustainability and experience from the broader business to develop solutions relevant to the client
- Business development - contribute to broader business opportunities
About you
As a JANA Consultant you are a skillful communicator, who is intellectually curious with a growth mindset. You demonstrate accountability in your judgement and are able to build respectful and enduring relationships. You have a client centric mindset and are committed to exceeding expectations.
You ideally have the below qualifications and experience:
- A relevant Tertiary qualification in finance/economics or a related field. CA or CFA or Master of Finance or relevant post graduate qualification is desirable.
- 7-10+ years’ experience in unlisted infrastructure investments, infrastructure debt / project finance, infrastructure valuations, or infrastructure advisory. Candidates with 5+ years would be considered with relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of analysing infrastructure assets including return drivers, financial metrics, term sheets, and investment risks;
- Knowledge of infrastructure sectors and market trends across key infrastructure sub-sectors;
- Experience analysing investment data in excel (including complex financial models) and financial databases;
- Strong communication skills including experience preparing investment papers and presenting them to internal and external stakeholders;
- Knowledge of pooled funds, unlisted infrastructure investment vehicles, and infrastructure portfolio construction would be desirable. Experience in other private markets would be advantageous.
