Consumer Protection InvestigatorGrade: Clerk Grade 5/6 (Salary $93,295 - $102,941 + Super) + Leave Loading + Accrued flex time Duration: Ongoing Location: Regional - Queanbeyan - Hybrid working arrangements – home/office available Closing Date: Friday 19th April 2024 [9:59am]

Key responsibilities: An opportunity exists within NSW Fair Trading’s Consumer Protection, Compliance and Investigations Division, Consumer Protection Investigation Unit (CPIU) for a professional investigator, in an ongoing full time role. Key responsibilities within this position will include involvement in large scale inspection programs, conducting assessments and investigations, in an efficient and effective manner and in accordance with the legislative requirements along with departmental policies and procedures.

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate recent relevant experience in the conduct of inspections and resulting investigations. Also essential is previous experience in the preparation of investigation reports and briefs of evidence. You will possess sound knowledge and understanding of relevant Acts and Regulations relating to the work of NSW Fair Trading or have demonstrated ability in applying legislation.

You must have exceptional communication skills and be able to communicate at all levels both internally and externally. Crucial to this role will be your superior writing skills which are needed in the preparation of submissions, reports, presentations and Ministerial correspondence.

To be successful in this role you will need the following essential skills:
- Demonstrated knowledge of formal conduct of investigations, evidence gathering and review process Previous experience in the preparation of internal memorandums, investigation reports and briefs of evidence
- Sound knowledge and understanding of relevant Acts and Regulations and how this relates to the work of NSW Fair Trading
- Have exceptional communication skills and be able to communicate at all levels
- Have superior writing skills to prepare submissions, reports, presentations, operational orders and Ministerial correspondence
- Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team within a high- volume work environment To be successful you will have:
- The Certificate IV in Government (Investigations) or preparedness to undertake an identical or similar employer-sponsored program
- Current NSW driver’s licence
- The ability and willingness to travel throughout the state when required. The above are key attributes to achieve success in the role
