Content Development Team Leader

Chiswick, Greater London

About the role

The Content Development Team Leader provides first-line management support to their team, ensuring the successful delivery of their projects. They help to communicate the Content Development team's goals and priorities in the context of the wider BSI strategy. They monitor their team's workload, provide guidance and support in resolving project issues, and report progress to the Content Development Delivery Manager and Head of Content Development.

The Team Leader assesses the performance of their team and creates plans to provide training and

development. The Team Leader supports the recruitment of new members of the team.

This role is responsible for maintaining collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the end-to-end delivery of National and Services projects, on time, on budget, and per the standards development governance, of high editorial quality, and the application of project management principles.

Responsibilities:

  • Being responsible for the performance of their team, ensuring that revenue and publications targets are met and evidenced. and that team objectives are achieved.
  • Reporting on their team's projects and ensuring that the data for their team's projects are accurate and complete.
  • Supporting the handover of new projects, guiding project issues, and ensuring timely and effective escalation where appropriate.
  • Through 1-1s, mid-year and end-year performance development reviews, monitoring and supporting their team's performance and morale, set objectives, and provide professional development
  • Monitoring the workload of their team, supporting the Content Development Delivery Manager in allocating new projects, and ensuring the Content Development team is right-sized and right-skilled.
  • Being responsible for the quality of the editorial output of their team and ensuring appropriate checks are made.
  • Providing guidance to their team on managing internal and external stakeholders, and for maintaining appropriate relationships with stakeholders.

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Experience working in a client-facing, content-driven delivery team.
  • Demonstrable application of project and programme management best practice
  • Extensive experience in technical editing and rewriting
  • Experience in managing multiple projects.
  • Qualifications to degree level or equivalent professional development
  • Experience in facilitating group discussions and decision-making at different corporate levels.
  • Working knowledge of copyright legislation and GDPR
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workload for self and team.
  • Excellent technical editing and content drafting skills
  • Customer-focused (internal & external) and ability to prioritise.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and engagement skills
  • Strong creative thinking and problem-solving capabilities
  • Reports accurately and timely on team and project performance.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen
  • Competent in MS Office tools
