About Us:Established in 2001, Guidera O'Connor is a privately owned and respected Design and Construct contractor and have a successful track record delivering Water and Wastewater treatment projects to the Australian Water Industry. Our clients include SA Water, Water Corporation, Sydney Water and SEQ Water.About the Opportunity:We are currently seeking an experienced Contracts Specialist to join our growing team. This role is based in Thebarton, South Australia and as the successful applicant you will prepare, review, and manage head contracts and associated subcontracts. You will work effectively with internal and external stakeholders and direct reports to deliver best project commercial outcomes.More specifically you will:Be capable of working across the lifecycle of a project, from its initiation at tendering stage to the close-out, during tendering, perform the review of terms and conditions and provide the preparation of contractual qualificationsAssist with the Head Contract negotiation (close-out of contractual qualifications), conformance and administration of all contractual steps prior and post awardIdentify contract management requirements, monitor contract securities and insurances, draft on-time any required substantiated claims and variations, completion of project documentation follow-up, including periodic reporting on commercial and contractual performanceParticipate in project procurement strategyPrepare key subcontracts altogether with flow down from Head Contract, ensuring that risks gaps are minimised, in consideration of subcontractor capabilities and scope of worksEffectively manage subcontracts through all phases, including cost forecasting, subcontractor management, claims/variations processing, completion and close outAnticipate and assess commercial and contractual risks, identify and implement appropriate controls and escalate actual or potential issues to relevant internal stakeholdersPrepare dispute documentation and assist in any dispute resolution processesAssist with cost forecasting and invoices for Head Contract and for subcontracts to ensure they are accurately maintained / issued and any issues are appropriately escalated upon identificationAs our ideal candidate you will: Value our Guiding Principles of Health & Safety, Integrity, Trustworthiness, Excellence and RespectHave relevant contracts experience in the construction industry, preferably the water industryHave experience in review of contracts, contract management, preparation and management of subcontracts, cost forecasting, claims, variations and completion / close out documentationHold qualifications in Construction Management, Engineering, Commerce, Surveying or Law preferredBe an excellent communicator, an influential team member coupled with strong negotiation and mediation skillsHave an ability to managing competing priorities, meet strict deadlines and have exceptional problem solving skills.About our Benefits:In return for your skills and experience, we offer:Supportive Colleagues and LeadershipTraining and Development OpportunitiesMeaningful and interesting workFlexibility, Autonomy & Generous Benefits as outlined belowA great culture and work environmentWe have great employee benefits including:Free parkingSite and office lunches providedAdditional annual leave for service milestones15 days personal leaveGenerous Employee Referral bonusRegular celebrations of success and performance awardsCompany funded wellbeing programPaid Parental leaveFeel free to contact Lesley Mackman on Lesley.mackman@goc.net.au for any further information.Previous applicants need not apply again.
