About the Opportunity:
We are currently seeking an experienced Contracts Specialist to join our growing team. This role is based in Thebarton, South Australia and as the successful applicant you will prepare, review, and manage head contracts and associated subcontracts. You will work effectively with internal and external stakeholders and direct reports to deliver best project commercial outcomes.
More specifically you will:
- Be capable of working across the lifecycle of a project, from its initiation at tendering stage to the close-out, during tendering, perform the review of terms and conditions and provide the preparation of contractual qualifications
- Assist with the Head Contract negotiation (close-out of contractual qualifications), conformance and administration of all contractual steps prior and post award
- Identify contract management requirements, monitor contract securities and insurances, draft on-time any required substantiated claims and variations, completion of project documentation follow-up, including periodic reporting on commercial and contractual performance
- Participate in project procurement strategy
- Prepare key subcontracts altogether with flow down from Head Contract, ensuring that risks gaps are minimised, in consideration of subcontractor capabilities and scope of works
- Effectively manage subcontracts through all phases, including cost forecasting, subcontractor management, claims/variations processing, completion and close out
- Anticipate and assess commercial and contractual risks, identify and implement appropriate controls and escalate actual or potential issues to relevant internal stakeholders
- Prepare dispute documentation and assist in any dispute resolution processes
- Assist with cost forecasting and invoices for Head Contract and for subcontracts to ensure they are accurately maintained / issued and any issues are appropriately escalated upon identification
As our ideal candidate you will:

- Have relevant contracts experience in the construction industry, preferably the water industry
- Have experience in review of contracts, contract management, preparation and management of subcontracts, cost forecasting, claims, variations and completion / close out documentation
- Hold qualifications in Construction Management, Engineering, Commerce, Surveying or Law preferred
- Be an excellent communicator, an influential team member coupled with strong negotiation and mediation skills
- Have an ability to managing competing priorities, meet strict deadlines and have exceptional problem solving skills.
