About the Role

  • This role is offered FIFO, DIDO or residential in Roxby Downs working a 7 days on 7 days off roster.

As apart of the Technology Team for Copper SA, you will be reporting to the Supervisor Technology Operations Olympic Dam Mine. This role will support our process Control Systems within the mine including; critical air/water/fuel services, locomotive control and monitoring of auxiliary systems.

In this role you will:

  • Ensure an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
  • Investigate and identify the root cause of related downtime caused by Control Systems while identifying and executing solutions to prevent repeat events from occurring.
  • Standardising and improving our code in Control Systems including all critical controls ensuring minimised safety, risk, volume, or cost impacts.
  • Strict adherence to the management of change processes.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and routine inspections of process control equipment.
  • Execute Control Systems design and commissioning for minor plant modifications and new equipment installation.
  • Initiate and implement minor Control Systems improvement work to achieve safer and more reliable plant, thereby maintaining and improving process efficiencies, in line with our business plan.
  • Be one team focused closely supporting our wider Technology project and operational teams when required.
About You
  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical or Mechatronic or Control Systems Engineering or Trade qualifications in Electrical or Instrumentation discipline in equivalent industry and/or organisational experience.
  • Further experience in heavy or mining industry would be well regarded.
  • Experience in solving multi-faceted problems. Experience in instrumentation and hardware troubleshooting highly regarded.
  • Strong PLC programming and hardware configuration skills as well as SCADA/HMI programming skills (preferably experienced across the Rockwell Automation product suite, Citect SCADA and Factory Talk View).
  • Demonstrated previous experience in Field Communication protocols: EthernetIP, Modbus, Profibus & DeviceNet
  • Valid Australian C class driver's license.
  • High degree of competence with Industrial Control System design, development, deployment, transition and support.
