We are currently seeking a highly skilled Cook to support our kitchen operations at the Como Centre and work alongside the other cook. This part-time role requires 18 hours per week on weekdays, with flexible starting and finishing times. If you possess the necessary experience and a genuine passion for culinary excellence, this opportunity is tailor-made for you!
Furthermore, as an integral part of the interview procedure, applicants will need to demonstrate their expertise in baking by showcasing their culinary skills in the kitchen at our Como Centre.
Key Responsibilities of this role:
- Preparing and cooking high-quality, nourishing meals for our residents
- Monitoring all practices within the catering center team to ensure safe food handling and infection control procedures are being adhered to
- Ensure all areas of the kitchen are cleaned to the highest standards
- Stock control management, replenishing and ordering stock as required
- Compliancy with Meath Care Occupational, Safety, and Health requirements
- Provide supervision and direction to Kitchen Hands
- Trade certification or experience in a commercial cooking environment (essential)
- Basic knowledge of dietary nutrition for the aged is preferred
- Ability to manage bulk ordering, purchasing, and stock control of food
- Sound budgeting acumen
- Competent in using Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal and interpersonal skills
- Empathy for elderly residents
Essential Criteria
- A current National Police Clearance (not older than six months) and current visa to work within Australia.
Desirable Criteria
- Have at least 2 years of experience in a similar role- preferably in the health industry.
- Current Flu Vaccination -desirable
- Covid-19 Vaccination – desirable
