At Futuro we are creating the future of early learning. Good food is at the heart of Futuro’s ethos, and we’ve partnered with Chef Justin North to design a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen for our cook and kitchen hand to create something truly outstanding for our families and team members.
About us
Futuro is new on the scene but is owned by partners with substantial experience in the sector. We created Futuro with the goal of providing environmentally sustainable high-quality care. We are committed to giving back to the community, supporting a range of social justice, sustainability and charitable initiatives in the South-West Sydney community.
Our new Gledswood Hills centre will provide care for 119 children per day. The state-of-the-art commercial kitchen at our centre has been designed by chef Justin North, offering a light and open layout, a 20-tray combi oven, cool store, dry goods store, pizza oven and pasta cooker. About you
We are looking for a Cook with:
- Food Safety Service Certificate, or a willingness to obtain this certificate prior to commencement.
- First Aid Certificate including CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis training, or a willingness to undertake this training prior to commencement.
- Valid WWCC, or the ability to undertake this clearance prior to commencement.
- Permission to work in Australia.
- A willingness to mentor and support a kitchen hand, and to work collaboratively as an integral part of the centre team.
- Formal qualifications in commercial cookery or equivalent are preferred.
The role involves:
- Preparing breakfast, lunch and snacks for up to 122 children per day.
- Preparing lunch for staff.
- Preparing fortnightly menus for the service, food ordering and food budget management.
- Careful management of any allergies or dietary restrictions for children in the service.
- Support from a casual kitchen hand.
- Some flexibility regarding hours worked during the centre’s hours of operation (6.30am-6.30pm, Monday to Friday), provided that main meal service times can be met.
- Supervision of daily cleaners to ensure high standards of kitchen cleanliness are met.
