Wanslea is seeking a Community-Focused Coordinator to join our team to work at our Wanslea office in Mandurah. This role involves providing leadership to deliver best-practice early intervention mental health services for children, young people, and their families.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Provide a welcoming and safe environment for children and young people
  • Ensure the delivery of a professional early intervention mental health service to service to children, young people and families that meets best practice standards and complies with service agreements
  • Foster the principles and objectives of the Mental Health team within the delivery of services to children, young people and their families
  • Provide supervision, consultation and debriefing to the team for complex cases and situations
  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of Wanslea’s Mental Health programs’ emerging practice framework
  • Provide leadership to the team of staff, students and volunteers
  • Participate in the development and delivery of training and the provision of high quality supervision and case consultation to staff
  • Coordinate referrals, case allocation and case reviews
  • Maintain accurate notes, reports, bookings and data collection leading to the collation of reports for funding bodies as required
  • Lead the induction, orientation, training and mentoring of new staff
  • Ensure all reporting requirements are met in regard to any risk to child safety Actively participate in a range of strategies that continues to sustain and grow the Mental Health programs’ services to children, young people and families
  • Promote the safety and well being of children and young people and embed the National Principles of Child Safety into all work undertaken

Our ideal applicant will have:

  • Degree in Social Work or recognised equivalent
  • Eligibility for Membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • Extensive experience in working with children, young people and families experiencing complex situations including mental health issues, crisis and/or child protection issues
  • High level knowledge and understanding of family functioning, trauma and abuse, child development and parenting skills
  • Extensive experience in the supervision of staff, students and volunteers
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of, and lead, a successful multi-disciplinary team
  • Proven high level interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in high level report writing
  • Demonstrated high level administrative skills including computer literacy in Windows software
  • Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships across sectors

  • Starting salary of $112,971.47 per annum (pro rata), plus superannuation.
