We are currently seeking a newly created Coordinator Asset Management to join our dedicated Shared Services Team. This role is permanent full time and will be primarily based at our Corporate Centre in Goonellabah.


The Coordinator of Asset Management is responsible for managing Council’s portfolio of infrastructure assets in accordance with Council’s Asset Management Strategy. The primary purpose of this role is to set long-term direction for sustainable Asset Management practices, including revising the council’s Asset Management Strategy and Plans based on agreed levels of service that meet the needs of the community. The role also involves working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that Council’s assets are managed efficiently and effectively.


The role involves close engagement with various departments to align Asset Management practices with organisational goals. It requires a strategic approach to resource allocation, budget management, and the development of long-term asset plans that consider the evolving needs of the community and Council.

What we trust you to deliver

  • Lead councils Strategic Asset Management Plan, aligning with organisational goals. Manage assets throughout their lifecycle, emphasising performance optimisation and value maximisation. Regularly assess asset condition and performance, providing timely reports for informed decision-making. Ensure compliance with standards, regulations, and legislative requirements, maintaining high governance and accountability standards.
  • Efficiently oversee asset-related budgets, optimising resource allocation for maintenance, renewal, and improvement projects. Collaborate with internal departments to align their asset needs with the overall management strategy. Identify and mitigate risks associated with Asset Management, ensuring the safeguarding of Council assets. Keep updated on technological advancements in Asset Management systems and integrate relevant tools to enhance efficiency.
  • Enhance Asset Management practices amid budget limitations and organisational demands. Tackle issues surrounding asset data accuracy and accessibility for informed decision-making. Meet community expectations regarding asset performance, service delivery, and infrastructure resilience.
  • Keep updated on and adjust to changing regulations and standards affecting Asset Management. Successfully incorporate emerging technologies into Asset Management procedures while ensuring staff proficiency and system dependability.

What you'll need to be successful

  • Tertiary qualifications in Asset Management, Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans for Asset Management aligned with organisational goals.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in guiding a team towards effective Asset Management practices.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess asset performance, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with internal stakeholders, ensuring a collaborative approach to Asset Management.
  • Current Class C Driver’s Licence.
