The OpportunityPositioned within our City Futures Department, this exciting opportunity will see you job-sharing with our current
Coordinator City Design to lead the Council's
City Design unit. This role will focus on the implementation of the open space strategy, development of plans, policies, and council reports, and has a leadership focus - both of the
City Design team and within the City Futures Department. This is a temporary position for 8 months, with the flexibility to work 3 or 4 days per week.
Responsibilities- Lead planning and policy within public open space, streetscapes, and civic spaces across the municipality.
- Play a crucial role in the delivery of Council's long-term plan, MV2040.
- Coordinate across departments, ensuring innovative and sustainable designs are embedded within all Council projects.
- Manage a team consisting of Landscape Architects and Open Space Planners to deliver planning, policy, design and project management services for the organisation.
- Advocate for public realm improvements in relation to impacts from private development, and State Government authorities.
Skills & ExperienceWe are seeking an individual with experience in the management and delivery of policy and plans, including demonstrated experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams delivering effective results. You will like to seek out new ideas, undertake research and investigation with the capability to plan long-term work programs. As this is a unique job-share arrangement, you will possess the ability to work collaboratively with the team and across Council, as well as have a strong interest in leadership and development of team culture. Additionally, you will be able to manage contractors and undertake procurement in line with Council policy.
