The Project
Somerton Intermodal Terminal is a flagship project for the freight rail industry and will offer a location that services the longer train profiles proposed as part of the Federal Governments Inland Rail commitment. The new intermodal rail hub is an exciting new $400m Design and Construct (D&C) project that will involve, groundworks, track renewals, heavy duty pavements, structures and signalling.

The Opportunity
The Coordinator, Environment and Sustainability reports to the Project Director, Somerton Intermodal Terminal Project and is primarily responsible for ensuring compliance with contractual environmental specifications, environmental legislation, planning approvals, and other relevant contractual and stakeholder environmental requirements.
Key Accountabilities for the position will be:
Conduct environmental monitoring and prepare reports as required including noise, vibration, water, and air quality.
Support the project team in supervising vegetation removal activities as required.
Plan for upcoming night works including noise modelling and analysis of noise monitoring results as required.
Work with site teams following an environmental incident and conduct incident reporting.
Have a consistent presence at pre-start meetings.
Provide support in investigating environmental near misses and incidents.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years operational experience in the application of environmental management principles in the construction industry.
- Knowledge of environmental issues, conservation and land management requirements in the rail and associated civil infrastructure industry is advantageous.
- Highly organised with exceptional time management and planning abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly.
- Fluent in the Microsoft Office suite of desktop applications and related software packages, with proficiency in Excel a must
