About the opportunity
Take on a pivotal leadership opportunity in the newly established position of Coordinator Governance, where you will spearhead our Governance team, shaping the strategic direction and operational effectiveness of our Council. This is an exciting opportunity to lead, mentor, and innovate in a complex environment, driving impactful change and ensuring best practices in governance and integrity.
You will make an impact by:
- Leading and coaching the Governance team to ensure operational excellence.
- Providing comprehensive governance advice to Council Departments, Executive, and Councillors.
- Coordinating Council meetings, briefings, and town planning meetings effectively.
- Developing and implementing governance policies and procedures.
- Supporting internal investigations and responses to external agencies. Leading training initiatives on governance and integrity matters.
What you will bring:
- Extensive experience in a governance-related field, preferably in local government.
- Understanding of the Local Government Act 2020 and associated Regulations.
- Knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act 1982, Public Interest Disclosures Act 2012, Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 and associated regulations and procedures.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead and develop a high-performing team.
- Political acumen and experience in managing Council Meetings.
- Tertiary qualification in local government, management, legal, or related discipline.
