The Opportunity
You will effectively lead and motivate the environmental Health and Building certification team by providing clear direction and leadership to ensure high performance in the delivery of its function. To effectively develop, implement and maintain high standards of services in building and certification assessment, critical stage inspections, building information certificates, swimming pool compliance and fire safety programs.
You will effectively build strong and lasting relationships by maintaining a high degree of customer and stakeholder engagement, internally and externally. To lead, manage and champion organisational change and reform ensuring the vision and values of the organisation are supported.
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying or Environmental Health or relevant experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Local Government context including expertise in relevant legislation with experience of leadership of a small to medium multidisciplinary team of Health and Building professionals
- Proven experience in professional development and team capacity building.
- Ability to apply and interpret key legislation including Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, Food Safety Standards, Local Government Act 1993, Public Health Act 2010, Food Act2003.
- Demonstrated ability to handle a high workload in an efficient and professional manner.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Suite and Electronic Data Management Systems such as Tech 1 ECM.
- Previous demonstrated experience in the investigation of, and establishment of prima facie evidence associated with alleged breaches of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, Food Safety
- Standards, Local Government Act 1993, Public Health Act 2010, Food Act 2003. Protection of the Environment Operation Act,
- Demonstrated well developed written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external and to negotiate out comes and resolve conflict.
