The HIPPY Coordinator is primarily responsible for the implementation, coordination, and ongoing delivery of the HIPPY Program. The coordinator will undertake initial training before implementing the HIPPY model into the local community. Coordination of the HIPPY program will include training and ongoing support for tutors engaged in service delivery as well as recruitment and retention of participants to ensure target numbers are maintained.
In addition, the HIPPY Coordinator will be required to work collaboratively with all staff within the Early Years division to maximise outcomes for clients engaged in Early Years services across all service locations.
Key Selection Criteria:
• An understanding of early childhood development and education.
• Demonstrated experience in managing community-based programs.
• An ability to assist the Early Years Coordinator to plan and implement a range of programs for the Mildura Aboriginal Community. Competence in a range of information technology applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite of products.
• A demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander people.
• Demonstrated commitment and sensitivity to the needs and interests of the community being served. Willingness to advocate on behalf of children and families.
• Willingness to participate in the development of policy and programs.
• Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership potential. Contribute to the process of solving problems based on operational knowledge and experience and following a continuous improvement process.
• Ability to build and sustain effective relationships with clients and other key stakeholders in order to build a common understanding and ensure their needs are met through service delivery.
• Experience in working with local communities and building local networks and relationships with service providers.
• Take action to provide services that are inclusive of Aboriginal people and engage in learning about other cultures to better establish relationships and improve services.
Qualification/s:
Qualifications in Education, Early Childhood, Community Development or Welfare Studies or equivalent qualifications in a related discipline appropriate to the coordination of child, youth family and community services.
Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Education (desirable)
A current Driver’s License that allows you to drive in Australia.
A current Employee Working with Children Check card.
A current National Police Check.
