The Foreign Language Press, publisher of the award-winning Greek Herald Newspaper, are looking for a creative and enthused Junior Journalist / Graduate Journalist to join their growing team. This is a permanent Part-Time position based in the heart of Sydney.
Our ideal candidate will be experienced in curating articles targeted to the different audience types across our various digital outlets. Your writing skills will keep our readers informed, entertained, and connected with breaking news, insightful analysis, and thoughtful commentary.
Scheduling and copywriting for website and social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram. Planning and implementation of copy and repurposing of existing content for website using Wordpress and social media using targeted and credible communication within branding of our organisation. Working within editorial guidelines of company. Ensuring SEO guidelines are implemented.
The role requires someone who is flexible and adaptive to the changing pace of the organisation and is a highly motivated professional in their field. A good command of the English language is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Copywriting of content
- Word processing
- Creating relevant digital content for various platforms as required.
- Reporting on community news and current affairs.
- Social media scheduling
- write clear, concise and factual copy for website
- Interpret copywriting briefs provided
- proofread copy as needed
- implementation of SEO for posts and pages
- identify key words
- ensuring word accuracy and quality of content
- participating in editorial meetings as required
- use Canva software to create branded content when required
- Generating, researching, and writing stories and creating relevant media in collaboration with various departments.
- Liaising with internal stakeholders to obtain relevant content, such as images and supporting information, to strengthen written content.
- Adhering to deadlines, investigating new content opportunities, and offering support to the wider editorial team.
About you:
- Relevant qualifications in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or similar.
- Minimum 2 years’ proven experience writing in online and social media spaces.
- Experienced skill in Wordpress and SEO optimization
- Outstanding Social Media skills across platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
- Video Editing skills preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work individually and as part of a team.
- Greek speaking (highly preferred).
