We are looking for a self-motivated, proactive and enthusiastic Corporate Accountant to assist with the monthly financial reporting, full year audit and financial statement preparation, and other ad hoc projects as required. This role will suit a first-time mover from a Big 4 or middle tier accounting firm, or a technically strong financial accountant in industry looking to expand their experience.
About the role:
Reporting to the Financial Controller and working closely with other peers in the Finance team, this role will be involved in the production of periodic management reporting and will assist the broader Finance team in ensuring routine day-to-day transactions are processed in line with standard processes. This role will take a lead in the preparation of the annual financial statements and be a point of contact for the auditors, hence a background in technical accounting is a must.
Your key responsibilities of the role will include:
- Providing support to AP, AR billing and other transaction processing functions
- Supporting the Financial Controller in performing EOM close:
- Preparation of month end journals, including identifying and collating data to calculate accruals and prepayments
- Preparation of general ledger month end reconciliations and correction journals as required
- Initial review of management accounts and variance analysis
- Preparation of activity statements and other periodic statutory requirements
- Support the year-end audit process, including assistance in preparing the year end file and Statutory Accounts
- Working with the CFO and FC to provide continuous improvements to the systems and processes within the Finance team and across the business
- Liaising with administrative staff across the broader group of companies to ensure consistent and efficient intra-group invoicing and reconciliations
Skills & Qualifications
- Professional accounting qualification affiliation: CA/ CPA
- Advanced Microsoft Excel
- Strong understanding of GAAP and IFRS
- A problem solving mindset and desire to learn
- Ability to identify issues and provide solutions autonomously
- Extended time with the usage of an accounting package (MYOB or Odoo in particular, but a history with any ERP or smaller off-the-shelf will be viewed favourably)
- Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Accounting or Business
