Cotton Seed Distributors (CSD) was formed in 1967 shortly after the commencement of the Australian cotton industry for the purposes of promoting the development of agricultural resources. CSD’s core mantra continues to be the development and supply of quality cotton seed to Australian growers. CSD is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee and has grower and industry members and a Board of grower elected members plus independent appointed directors.
Through continuously investing in the research and development of new cotton seed varieties, developing agronomic tools and digital applications to support growers, CSD partners with leading global companies and institutions to ensure Australian growers have timely access to the world’s best technologies. Their processing, R&D, farming, and head office facilities are based at Wee Waa in Northwest NSW.
The Position
The role of Corporate Affairs andCommunications Manager is a critical role for CSD. It holds a pivotal position to influence CSD’s reputation by listening to and working closely with the business, then communicating effectively with producers, agents, industry, and other key stakeholders. You will have an intimate understanding of the business and share this intel with these stakeholders while also playing the primary role to keep CSD staff informed.
As an experienced Corporate Affairs andCommunication Manager, you will be responsible for all content in a multitude of platforms. You will oversee the rhythm of communications to improve information sharing and better inform industry and staff of CSD news, progress, and initiatives. This will include media and press releases, social media, regular newsletters, website content, direct mail, and producer connectivity. You will be an intent listener within CSD and producers and convey this information to better share CSD in a broader sense.
You will also be accountable for professional and effective writing and communication of media releases, generating promotional materials and reports, public relations, and promotional activities, maintaining website content plus gathering information for educational opportunities.
Overarching for this role is the opportunity to play a significant role in influencing a positive culture within CSD.
The Person
We are keen for to hear from you if you have:
- Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal skills, and an ability to communicate effectively at all levels (internally and externally) with a clear understanding of the need for diplomacy, tact and confidentiality
- exceptional ability to write, edit, and generate relevant, professional, and engaging content including social media content
- 3-5+ years in a similar role with relevant qualifications
- experience in an R&D and or technical environment highly regarded
- emotional intelligence with demonstrated ability to influence, build and maintain positive working relationships with diverse stakeholders
- experience managing and/or mentoring staff, including direct reports as well as those beyond your immediate team.
You may come from an agricultural background, or simply have a passion for agriculture in general. Based in their corporate office and production facilities in Wee Waa, you will play a vital role in all aspects of the business’s communications platform and be the ‘go-to’ person to share CSD information internally and externally. At all times you will remaining critically aware of the grower community.
