About the role
The Corporate Communications and Engagement Manager is responsible for leading council’s internal Communications and community engagement function within the Corporate Communications and Engagement team. Your experience in planning, developing and delivering creative communication and Engagement campaigns, and accurately measuring their effectiveness, will help council measurably progress delivery of the community’s goals and objectives.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
lead and inspire the Corporate Communications and Engagement section, clearly articulating their specific role in achieving the organisation’s vision and outcomes
initiate, develop and coordinate delivery of Corporate Communications and Engagement programs of work
provide specialist advice to council, committees, boards, panels, councillors, chief executive officer, general managers and other managers as required, and supporting capacity development in those areas where relevant
manage development of council’s engagement platform Shape Your Ipswich, intranet and other digital channels to make sure they continue to meet corporate communication and Engagement priorities
lead the community panel relationship in a way that creates a sense of energy and optimism in council achievements

About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
substantial knowledge and experience in the ongoing delivery of engagement and communication initiatives within a government or other relevant organisation
high-level interpersonal, communication, negotiation and consultation skills to develop and responsively manage positive stakeholder relationships and deal with the needs of customers, local government, management and employees in an environment of change
demonstrated leadership ability, with proven experience managing conflict, providing coaching and development, and supporting staff with empathy to achieve common goals
demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a management team to achieve organisational outcomes, and to maintain and foster good relationships with colleagues, clients, and team members
tertiary qualification in marketing, communications, or related field, and / or extensive experience to carry out the range of duties required
current Queensland “C” class licence
