About the role

We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety and Risk Officer to join our Corporate HSE and Risk team. Reporting to the Manager of Health, Safety, Environment, and Risk, this role is an opportunity to play a role in shaping a safe and compliant work environment while contributing to our strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support company Health, Safety, and Risk, initiatives, and programs aligned with organisational goals.
  • Develop, review, and manage company-level Health, Safety, and Risk procedures and standards, ensuring compliance with relevant laws.
  • Maintain Gold Road's ISO 45001/14001 HSE Management System, extending its reach to cover other Australian jurisdictions.
  • Uphold and continually enhance the efficiency of Health, Safety, and Risk Management system (iSystain).
  • Support critical risk identification and management, contributing to a proactive safety culture.
  • Undertake internal Health, Safety, and Risk audits and compliance inspections
  • Develop, coordinate and manage training sessions for company-wide HS&R systems, policies and procedures, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Champion psychosocial hazard and Risk identification and management.
  • Assist with site incident investigations, including ICAM processes where required.
  • Create and manage health and well-being awareness programs, including initiatives like RUOK day, Mental Health week, and skin cancer checks.
  • Prepare health, safety, and Risk data, conducting trend analysis to develop board and committee papers along with annual ESG reports.
  • Represent Gold Road at AMEC and CME health and safety industry meetings, contributing to industry dialogue and best practices.
  • Provide dedicated support to site Health and Safety Advisors in injury management and return-to-work plans for injured workers.
  • Actively participate in the planning and coordination of crisis management efforts, ensuring a resilient response when required.

About yourself

  • Experience in a similar role, with 5+ years highly desirable.
  • A passionate advocate for improving Health, Safety, and Risk performance within the workplace.
  • Excellent communication skills to facilitate effective interaction across the business.
  • Excellent understanding of Health and Safety legislation, preferably across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Proficiency in risk management gained through practical experience.
  • Experience in developing and implementing Health, Safety, and Risk management systems to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Experience in document control, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Experience using iSystain management system or similar incident/risk management systems is desirable.
  • Experience in Injury Management, showcasing a comprehensive understanding of workplace health is desirable.
