Reporting to the Head of Legal, Group Procurement as a Corporate Lawyer you are to provide quality, commercially astute and timely legal advice to ANZ clients in an efficient and pro-active manner. Your advice will relate to a full range of procurement, compliance and supply chain matters including regulatory standards (APS 222, CPS 231, 232, 234), data and privacy and information security.
You will frequently partner with other enablement functions including other parts of the Legal Team (including Technology Legal and Data/Privacy), Procurement, Third Party Risk Management, Enterprise Data Governance, Compliance, Finance, Information Security and Tax to negotiate compliant agreements with ANZ’s strategic vendor partners.
While most of the work is Australia based, ANZ operates in multiple jurisdictions and has operating entities all around the world. The Procurement Legal Team, which is located in Melbourne and Singapore, assists with matters globally and your work will reflect this. The regulatory environment that ANZ operates in is increasingly complex and you will be involved in regulatory and legislative reform processes including implementing compliant responses to new and changing regulatory requirements. You will also need to instruct and manage external law firms who provide additional assistance from time to time.

What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in the role, you will ideally bring the following:
Some experience in Procurement law with demonstrable specialist experience in contracting and commercial negotiation
Ideally have experience in some, if not all, of the relevant specialties including supply chain management, technology, privacy and data, information security and financial services regulation
Be able to work autonomously and as part of a team and recognise and value the benefits of working with diverse colleagues
Be excellent at time management with a demonstrated track record of managing challenging workloads
Be strong at relationship building
Be a practical, problem solver who is able to articulate legal risks clearly and concisely
Be comfortable with ambiguity in areas of developing law
Have outstanding drafting and negotiation skills and enjoy the challenges of working across multiple jurisdictions
Have a growth mindset and be outcomes focused whilst being collaborative and values-driven
