Job description

About the role

Manage the development of Council's new Council Plan for 2025-2029 with a forward vision looking towards 2033. As the Corporate Planning and Project Coordinator, you will drive the process of creating the new 4-year strategic plan. This plan will shape the vision, priorities, and initiatives for the Yarra Ranges Council considering the aspirations and opportunities out to 2033. This will involve:

  • Leading consultations and stakeholder engagement to gather input from community members, businesses, Councillors and staff on their needs and aspirations for 2025-2029 and beyond to 2033.
  • Conducting research and analysis on emerging trends, issues and opportunities facing the region over the next four years.
  • Facilitating workshops and discussions to define the strategic objectives, targets, and key actions for the new plan.
  • Synthesising all inputs into a cohesive, actionable Council Plan document that articulates the long-term community vision.
  • Obtaining council endorsement for the final 2025-2029 Council Plan.

What you'll bring to our team

  • Exceptional strategic planning, analysis, and drafting skills.
  • Very strong and highly adaptable stakeholder engagement and facilitation abilities.
  • Experience developing corporate plans, strategies, or policies.
  • Knowledge of council operations, governance, and strategic planning processes.
  • Ability to manage complex projects end-to-end.

Your planning, coordination and leadership skills will be critical in steering the successful development of this vital strategic blueprint for the Council's future direction over 2025-2029.

Why you'll love working with us

At Yarra Ranges Council, we offer truly flexible working arrangements, including the option for in-office and remote work. This means you can enjoy the best of both worlds: the support and collaboration of a team-based environment, as well as the freedom and flexibility of working from home.

  • Option to take up a monthly RDO.
  • Temporary, full-time position until June 2025 (parental leave backfill) (76 hours fortnightly).
  • Salary between $104,442 and $116,870 (Band 7) per annum, plus 11% superannuation.
