About the role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will work closely with all members of the Adelaide Remand Centre team to ensure the ongoing safety and security of prisoners, staff and visitors. As a Correctional Officer you will carry out operational-related activities including supervising the behaviour and activities of prisoners while ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures. You will join a motivated team of custodial professionals, responsible for the rehabilitation, reintegration and provision of services to prisoners, actively supporting prisoners throughout their sentence, whilst monitoring and maintaining the security of the Centre. You will maintain high quality documentation in relation to case files, conduct case assessments, prepare comprehensive reports and contribute to providing a safe and healthy working environment.
Duties
- Conduct prisoner and cell searches
- Respond to emergency situations including prisoner conflicts, injury and medical issues as required
- Oversee prisoner activities including meals, visitation and recreation
- Transporting and escorting prisoners to court and hospital visits
- Assist and supervise the activities of prisoners and behaviour
- Inspect conditions within facilities to ensure they meet established standards
- Search prisoners for contraband items
- Report on prisoner conduct
- Write detailed and accurate incident and case management reports
- Book and process incoming and outgoing prisoners according to Standard Operating Procedures.

A natural influencer, you are comfortable negotiating situations which at times are challenging and are passionate about delivering to the highest standards in a correctional environment.
