Our client, a local company specialised in commercial and residential modular construction, is recruiting a Cost Analyst to join their team in Darwin and participate in the delivery of multiple projects.
Your new role
You will be responsible for Analysing Project Costs in detail, and interfacing with Estimating, Projects Team and Accounts departments. Your primary goal is to understand where the costs are allocated, ensure the costs are allocated correctly, all expenses are captured and the reporting on the final outcome of a project elements to relative departments. This is a permanent full-time role, based in Darwin.
Your key responsibilities will be:
Assimilation of the budgeted costs for the project and their relative cost codes
Review of project expenses to ensure conformance of their cost allocation
Provision of feedback to the purchasing team about incorrect cost allocation for continual improvement
Reallocation of costs to correct cost codes as required
Optimisation of cost code / budget cost formation to streamline Cost Analyst duties and ease of use for estimating and project departments.
Reporting of fluctuations in costs so estimating can be amended
Generation of final project cost report detailing gross profit and highlighting what could have been improved.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you will have:
A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline is desirable, e.g., Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management and Economics, Quantity Surveying, Diploma in Building & Construction or Accounting.
Previous experience in a similar role working on construction projects is desirable.
A background or previous experience in accounting is desirable.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent time management and organisational skills.
The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Strong computer literacy and experience in using Project Management software.
