The Civic Governance Branch is responsible for the sound Governance of Council, providing expertise and support on a wide range of governance matters.
As the Councillor Liaison Officer, you will be responsible for assisting Councillors in their daily duties across various areas including diary and travel management and preparation of written and verbal communication through internal research and consultation.
The successful incumbent will respond, redirect and research customer enquiries to Councillors in accordance with organisational protocols, whilst recognising any issues of political sensitivity. You will liaise with relevant federal, state, local government and business / industry representatives on matters pertaining to Councillor strategic portfolio and divisional responsibilities.
As a requirement of the position, you will:
- Provide a wide range of administrative support services to assist elected representatives carry out their duties.
- Prepare routine responses to community by gathering relevant updates and
- Manage Councillor’s diary and co-ordinate meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Plan, co-ordinate and attend as required to Councillor internal and external meetings, forums and events, record meeting outcomes.
- Co-ordinate all conference bookings and associated approved travel plans and itineraries.
- Provide a wide range of high-level and complex administrative support services including planning, logistical coordination, research, drafting reports.
- Respond to enquiries and continue to progress matters from constituents, other elected officials, the media, or community groups.
- Manage and prioritise workflow for the preparation of correspondence, briefings and other documentation.

About you
As an Administration professional, you will possess a Certificate IV or Diploma in Business Administration, Local Government or similar or equivalent. Complementing this will be your outstanding time management and prioritisation skills with ability to work autonomously and in a team, ensuring tight deadlines are met to a superior standard.
You will be someone who understands the importance of professionalism, confidentiality, attention to detail and the importance of providing high level administrative support.
You will be well versed in computer software, applications, systems, databases and mobile devices including the Microsoft Office Suite.
Effective communication and customer service skills with capacity to use initiative and sound judgement will set you up for success in this role. Previous Local Government experience in a similar role with a sound understanding of Council process, practice and procedures will be well regarded.
