Are you a dedicated counsellor devoted to mitigating the impact of trauma on women?
Our client is a women's-only service, deeply committed to supporting women who have experienced complex traumas, including domestic and sexual violence, mental health challenges, substance abuse, homelessness, and interactions with the ACT corrections system. They are seeking multiple counsellors to join their growing team and work with women experiencing Alcohol and Drug issues.
This role will involve;
- Maintain a caseload of women with complex needs, offering individual counseling sessions and support to their families when appropriate.
- Plan, execute, and assess therapeutic group sessions tailored to address trauma-related issues such as substance abuse, mental health challenges, and experiences of domestic, family, or sexual violence.
- Implement alcohol and drug interventions using a gender-sensitive, strengths-based approach.
- Conduct training workshops internally and externally to enhance awareness and skills in trauma-informed care.
- Ensure accurate and confidential maintenance of client records in compliance with legal and professional standards.
- Provide outreach services to various locations, and actively participate in case conferences as needed.
- Offer interim counseling and referral services, while also advocating for clients and their families within legal systems when necessary.
- Engage in ongoing professional development activities, attend regular clinical supervision sessions, and contribute to performance management initiatives to uphold service quality and effectiveness.
The requirements for this role include;
- Tertiary qualifications and registration in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling equivalent
- Highly desirable certificate IV AOD or equivalent experience in AOD.
- Minimum 1 year counselling experience working with people experiencing the effects of trauma.
- Understanding of AOD abuse and it's contributing factors
- Current driver's license, Working with Vulnerable People check and National Police Check
