This role is pivotal in balancing the bank's growth objectives with its risk appetite, ensuring that Credit Risk is effectively managed in line with the bank's strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.Role Location: 833 Collins Street, Docklands VIC 3008
Role Type: Permanent, Full TimeWhat will your day look like?This role is accountable for:Risk and Compliance: Develop, implement, and review Credit Risk policies for retail banking products including mortgages, personal loans, credit cards, and other consumer lending products.Financial: Exercise expert judgment to either decision complex/escalated credit applications and/or make sound recommendations for executives management to consider in their decision making process. This includes but is not limited to:Reviewing and assessing retail lending applications to determine a borrower's credit worthiness.Analysing applicants' conduct, capacity, character and collateral to decide a credit application.Review of financial and supporting documents provided by the applicants, such as payslips, bank statements, and tax returns.Provide feedback on loan applications, conditions, or declines to relevant stakeholders.Financial: Assisting to deliver an agreed work plan across Acquisition Strategies that is aligned to operational strategies and deliver the greatest benefit to the wider organisation.Customer: Assisting with the development and documentation of acquisition strategies, their alignment with operational process/strategy, business requirements, issues, and specific enhancement proposals.Process: Participating in projects to rationalise, simplify, and improve credit policy deployment, acquisition front end strategy, and process.People: Provide policy advice/training and mentoring to team members.People: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the effective implementation of Credit Risk policies.Risk Compliance: Managing Non-Financial Risks. Know your risks, know your controls, manage your COR events (information in COR is accurate, up-to-date, easy to understand, and action oriented). Support Audits and deliver on all audit-related commitments.What will you bring?To grow and be successful in the role, you will ideally bring the following:Strong research and problem-solving proven ability to turn data into information and information into actionable business decision strategy.Understanding of the benefits and insights derived from data analytics/science and/or decision systems techniques and tools to assist with policy development.Experienced in risk management, with extensive cross-functional and cross-portfolio strategy experience.Proven ability to communicate up and amongst peer groups.Effective people and project management skills.Well-developed written and oral skills.Expert ability to underwrite and review retail lending applications.Strong ability in judgmental credit decisioning.You're not expected to have 100% of these skills.
