About the Role
The Manager, Policy & Climate Action Coordination is responsible for leading a small team to provide strategic and authorative advice on transport system Policy and reform options to improve social, envionmental and economic outcomes for transport system users.
The role will have specific focus on advising on Climate Action policy issues across the transport and planning portfolio, including leading the monitoring and preparation of reports on the Department's performance against approved climate change adaptation and mitigation actions.
Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, the role will coordinate effort across the Department in developing initiatives, processes and systems that will position the Department to meet or exceed compliance with its Climate Action adaptation and mitigation obligations.

Position Outcomes
- Lead the delivery of thorough analysis, and clear and authoritative advice and recommendations on transport system Policy and reform options, with a specific focus on climate change adaptation and mitigation, including developing material for Ministerial and Cabinet consideration as required, often under significant time constraints.
- Negotiate with key internal and external stakeholders on major transport Policy and Climate Action issues.
- Lead a small team to deliver Climate Action policy initiatives and monitor and prepare reports on the department's performance in implementing approved Climate Action adaptation and mitigation measures.
- Actively foster constructive relationships within the division, within the transport portfolio and other government departments and with key external stakeholders and establish ongoing initiatives to enhance these relationships.
- Manage a small team to ensure that resources are allocated in a way which reflects government and departmental priorities, and that facilitates the delivery of key deliverables to a high quality and on time.
- Actively facilitate and support the development of relevant professional skills for staff, including ensuring adequate and effective performance management processes are in place for all individuals and identifying opportunities to build branch capacity.
- In line with Section 31A of the Public Administration Act 2004 (Vic) other duties may be assigned consistent with employment classification, skills, and capabilities.

You will develop team capabilities through clear expectations and constructive feedback. Your expertise in policy design and development, coupled with strong influencing and persuasive skills, will be crucial. You will adeptly solve complex problems within the business context, ensuring solutions adhere to organisational values and legal frameworks. Additionally, you will communicate effectively, preparing concise briefs and building strong stakeholder relationships.

You will instil a sense of purpose within your team, aligning their work with the organisation's strategic direction and community impact. Qualifications and Experience

- Tertiary qualification in a relevant or a related discipline.
