Your part in our UnitingCare Community team
We are currently seeking a Crisis Supporters to join our Lifeline Community Recovery team on a casual basis. The purpose of this position is to provide Psychological First Aid and information to members of a community affected by a disaster. This role is deployed as part of the UnitingCare – Lifeline Community Recovery Program in the event of a disaster or critical incident response.
Reporting to the Team Leader you will be supporting individuals, families and community after the impact of recent environmental events on the Gold Coast. You will deliver Case coordination to communities across the Gold Coast region from a Community Recovery perspective.
Duties of this role include:
- Assist individuals, families and communities impacted by critical events by reducing initial distress, fostering short and long-term adaptive function and minimising the risk of further harm.
- Distributing resource materials that may assist people in understanding loss and change in communities following a disaster, referral resources available to them for further support, and self-help tips for minimising the adverse effects of the disaster.
- Work professionally and collaboratively within a team context and with staff from government and community organisations involved in the Community Recovery operation or critical incident.
Essential
- Qualification in Human Services and or experience in Case Management.
- Completed training in Psychological First Aid (PFA) Framework or willing to undertake
- Drivers Licence
- Positive Blue Card.
Desirable
- Training in Suicide Intervention (ASIST), Safe Talk.
- Completion of Lifeline Telephone Counselling Course or a pathway approved by the Lifeline Community Recovery Service Lead.
