Crisis Support Officer - Community Recovery Program. 

  • Employment Term: Casual
  • Location: Can bebased Broadbeach, Ipswich or Maroochydore
  • Remuneration: $51 per hour + super + allowances

Integral to the 'Pathways' project, this officer addresses the immediate psychological needs of disaster-impacted communities, guiding them towards resilience and recovery. 

The role emphasises collaboration with First Nations organisations and leaders, adopting a holistic approach to tackle social, economic, and cultural challenges. By focusing on cultural preservation, skill development, and suicide prevention, the officer ensures long-term well-being and sustainable development for individuals, families, and communities.
 

Emphasising a holistic self-determination model of well-being, the Recovery Officer position includes the delivery of Psychological First Aid (PFA) and case management, leading to enhanced connections to community and land through culturally sensitive collective support mechanisms. This approach is integral to building resilience within communities as part of the broader disaster recovery efforts. 

The Community Recovery Officer ensures that these initiatives are grounded in the principles of cultural respect and community-centred recovery, aligning with the strategic goals of the 'Pathways' project for sustainable development and mental health enhancement.

What makes a difference for us? 
  • Completion of or willingness to attain accreditation ASIST (Applied Suicide interventions Skills or a pathway approved by the Lifeline Community Services Manager.
  • Training in Safe Talk.
  • Completed or willingness to complete training in Psychological First Aid (PFA) Framework.
  • Drivers Licence
  • Positive Blue Card.

Desirable

  • Demonstrated skills and sound knowledge gained through experience working with First Nations children, families and communities. Ideally you will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in this area of work.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the human-social needs following a disaster that lead to reduced risk and increased resilience for individuals, families and communities, including those from a culturally diverse background and those who have specific needs.
