The Mt Cuthbert Group is a privately owned, Australian-based copper and gold producer with extensive exploration assets in NW Queensland. Mt Cuthbert Group acquired the Leichhardt Project in 2013, located at the remote Mount Cuthbert Mine, near the township of Kajabbi, NW QLD. In 2020, the group acquired the Rocklands site, approx. 17kms west of Cloncurry. This year will see further projects coming online for both Rocklands and Crusader (Mt Cuthbert).
Reporting to the Process Manager 2IC, you will be part of a broader team involved in bringing copper from its raw state to final product for export. More specifically, you will lead the crushing team and ensuring the safe and efficient running of fixed Crushing Plant.
You must love variety. Your time will be spent supervising the crushing team at Rocklands, providing safe and understandable work instructions, control room guidance and supporting all crushing activities.
You are a team player. You will possess an effective, proactive and committed leadership approach. You will provide guidance to the crushing team and contribute to the ongoing operations of the processing plant.
Your highly developed interpersonal skills will mean you have the ability to communicate effectively across all levels. Most importantly, you will influence and motivate the team, providing continuous improvement ideas across safety, productivity and cost effectiveness.
Your great project management skills will mean you will be responsible for the implementation of systems, and you will have the resolve to be self-directed and work safely unsupervised.
To be successful you will need to have:
- Qualifications in mineral processing highly regarded but not essential.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Queensland Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act 1999.
- S1, S2, S3 qualification.
- 5+ years experience, knowledge and understanding of crushing operations as they pertain to hard rock mining and mineral processing.
- High levels of mechanical and operational knowledge around fixed plant crushing circuits, inclusive of screens, jaws, cones and conveyors.
- Trade qualifications desirable but demonstrated mechanical experience is essential.
- Current manual drivers’ license.
- Loader ticket (RII).
- Skid steer ticket (RII).
- Working at Heights / Confined Space (RII).
- Desirable Excavator ticket (RII) up to 8T.
- A commitment to Safe Work Practices and a strong work ethic.

The role is offered as a 15/13 FIFO position from Brisbane, Townsville or Cairns (only) or DIDO Mt Isa or Cloncurry with meals and accommodation provided at the Cloncurry camp. For those choosing to live in Cloncurry, a residential allowance applies.
