We are currently seeking a Cultural Practice Lead to join our Foster and Kinship team. Our Cultural and Practice lead can be based in Rockhampton, Gladstone or Emerald.They will provide high-level consultation and leadership to the Foster and Kinship Care team. The Cultural Practice Lead will aim to strengthen culturally responsive and effective practices for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children in care.What will a typical day look like?
- Engage with young people to support their cultural needs with the support of the Placement Support Worker and Carer.
- Ensure all current cultural case plans are up to date and being utilised by the team.
- Engage with Foster Carers to support, monitor and develop culturally appropriate strategies and interventions to support the cultural needs of each young person.
- Provide cultural awareness training to develop relevant resources and training materials to enhance cultural competency.
- Provide advice, mentoring and coaching to staff to support safe, quality practice.
- Provide strategic leadership to ensure inclusion is embedded in policies, procedures, and practice frameworks in the Foster Care Portfolio.
- Lead the development and implementation of Cultural Practice to improve services to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander young people in care.
- Ensure practices are compliant with Standards of Care and the rights of children according to the Child Protection Act 1999.
- Promote and support an ongoing strong and positive team environment to ensure excellent communication and collaboration between team members and colleagues within the Foster Care portfolio.
- Engage the team in the development and implementation of activities and events for children and carers.
- Full COVID-19 Vaccination
- Tertiary qualification in Social Services or a related field.
- Ability to obtain a Blue Card (working with children check positive notice or exemption)
- Ability to obtain a Yellow Card (disability services positive notice or exemption notice)
