About the role

We are looking for an energetic leader to join us as our Cultural Programs Coordinator. This position will be instrumental in shaping and executing a variety of cultural initiatives, projects and partnerships, enhancing the cultural vibrancy of the Yarra Ranges. As an integral part of the Creative Communities leadership team, this role includes overseeing a dedicated team responsible for Public Art, Creative Industries, Festivals and Events, Cultural Grants, and the Cultural Program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the growth and sustainability of creative industries through collaboration with artists and creative professionals, creating opportunities for economic development within the sector.
  • Oversee the management, delivery, and profile of public art projects across the region.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee the delivery of the Yarra Ranges performing arts and cultural program in various cultural facilities and venues.
  • Identify opportunities to collaborate with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities, Phoenix and cultural practitioners in the development and presentation of Cultural Programs, exhibitions, public art and creative learning.
  • Collaborate on cultural tourism projects and initiatives to promote Yarra Ranges as a vibrant cultural destination, attracting visitors and tourists to engage with local arts and heritage experiences.
  • Design and deliver policies, initiatives, projects, and programs that foster cultural development in the Yarra Ranges.
  • Ensure program areas address health and wellbeing, accessibility, inclusivity, resilience, and recovery.
  • Engage with the Yarra Ranges community to understand cultural needs and aspirations, collaborating with residents, cultural organisations, and community groups to ensure their active involvement in cultural programming.

What you'll bring to our team

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and/or extensive relevant experience working in the arts and cultural sector with a particular focus on cultural program development and delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience in cultural program coordination and leadership.
  • Strong understanding of creative industries, public art, festivals, events, and cultural grants.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve cultural development goals.
  • A high level of Aboriginal and other cross-cultural competencies, with a strong record of working in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Islander communities.
  • Experience in collaborating with diverse community groups and stakeholders.

Why you'll love working with us

At Yarra Ranges Council, we offer truly flexible working arrangements, including the option for in-office and remote work. This means you can enjoy the best of both worlds: the support and collaboration of a team-based environment, as well as the freedom and flexibility of working from home.

  • Option to take up a monthly RDO.
  • Full-time permanent position (38 hours per week).
  • Salary from $104,442 to $112,677 (Band 7) per annum, plus 11% superannuation.
