The Role
Make a difference in our community!

Reporting to the Director Community Wellbeing, the newly created Strategic Projects and Programs Coordinator role will focus on designing, managing and executing strategic and operational initiatives across the Community Wellbeing Directorate. No two days will be the same in this wonderfully varied role.

Examples of the role’s focus areas include developing mechanisms for capturing and using data, measuring and evaluating the impact of our work, keeping abreast of sector policy change and innovation, representing Council on advisory groups and committees, and developing relationships with academic institutions. The position is responsible for overseeing the development and monitoring of Council’s Connected Communities Strategy and Action Plan.

The Strategic Projects and Programs Coordinator plays an integral role in forging relationships and partnerships with a range of highly engaged stakeholders across the sector, and is supported in this role by one direct report. The position will continue to build innovative partnerships, such as the Whittlesea Community Futures Partnership.

This unique senior position provides exposure to challenging and rewarding opportunities across the breadth of the local government community services sector. You will collaborate closely with the Community Wellbeing leadership team and provide support for major projects in their respective areas.

About you
You will come to the role with exceptional project management skills, creative thinking and a solution-focussed approach, together with a strong background in community services, ideally in local government.

You will be adept at identifying new opportunities and it is second nature for you to seek the ‘why?’ in all that you do.

You are political acument and ability to build and enhance a range of sustainable relationships with internal and external stakeholders will be key to your success.

The role will be varied, fast-paced and dynamic, so you will need to be agile yet structured, comfortable working through ambiguity and thrive on delivering a diverse range of projects.

A genuine interest and commitment to delivering better social outcomes for people is essential as well as demonstrated working knowledge in the community services sector.
