Job description

The Customer and Regulations Officer seeks to increase the value and impact the Bureau delivers to Australia's water sector. The Water Regulations and Standards Section manages the delivery of the Bureau's regulatory and water information standards functions under the Water Act 2007 and Water Regulations 2008. As a regulator, the Bureau works with water data providers and users to ensure efficient data provision, minimal regulatory burden and the creation of valuable water data information products and services. The Bureau also leverages its position as a national, independent organisation and collaborates across jurisdictions to inform water sector reform, provide national water information leadership, and drive national water data standards.
The Customer and Regulations Officer contributes to the administration of the Commonwealth Water Regulations 2008 and national water information standards, supporting the collation of Australia's water information in a way that provides verified value and impact to customers, and develops and maintains productive relationships with data providers. They also contribute to handling customer enquiries while representing the trust and quality associated with the Bureau brand.
The Customer and Regulations Officer is self-motivated and agile. They work collaboratively with diverse teams and can quickly pivot to new tasks and initiatives in response to Customer and organisational demand. They thrive in problem solving and on-the-job learning. They are confident communicators and exhibit a willingness to continuously learn new aspects of customers' businesses while keeping abreast of the Bureau's capabilities, products, and services. They develop and maintain strong relationships with experts across the Bureau, to identify opportunities to match Bureau capabilities with customer requirements.
This role is part of a national team, which leverages digital platforms for collaboration, while building trusted relationships on the ground in every Australian state and territory.
The key duties of the position include:The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
Proactively manage relationships with customers and data providers, and provide excellent customer service, whilst representing the quality and trust associated with the Bureau brand.
Contributing to the administration, maintenance and development of Part 7 of the Commonwealth Water Regulations 2008 and the promotion and facilitation of national water information standards and guidelines.
Contributing to annual regulatory performance reporting and other statutory reporting.
Researching, interpreting and applying legislation and providing expert advice and interpretation to internal and external stakeholders related to Part 7 of the Commonwealth Water Regulations 2008 and national water information standards and guidelines.
Maintaining a high level of knowledge of relevant legislation, regulatory frameworks and priorities of the Australian Government as relevant to the Bureau's water information and standards function.
Contributing to the management of customer communication channels, particularly mailboxes, ensuring that customer enquiries are responded to efficiently and capturing feedback. Document customer interactions and intelligence in customer relationship management systems.
Working collaboratively in multi-disciplinary, geographically dispersed teams to develop relationships with Bureau customers, understand their needs and pursue new opportunities.
Developing relationships and networks across the Bureau's research and delivery teams and maintain broad knowledge and understanding of Bureau capabilities, products and services.
Connecting customers with Bureau products, advice and expertise that deliver value and impact to their organisations.
Developing and documenting compelling cases for changes to Bureau services or the development of new services, based on evidence of value and impact for customers.
Contributing to a diverse range of projects and products to deliver benefits to Bureau customers or improve internal processes, while learning continuously and quickly adapting to changing priorities.
Committing to continuous personal development, including the development of subject matter expertise applicable to the role, and in the application of Bureau capabilities to customer challenges and opportunities.

EligibilityMandatory qualifications:A degree or diploma of an Australian educational institution, or a comparable overseas qualification, which is appropriate to the duties; OR other comparable qualifications, which are appropriate to the duties.
