Paralegal
The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator’s (NHVR) Prosecution Team is a high performing group of in-house lawyers who prosecute and defend NHVR, South Australia Police and Victoria Police cases in Court, and provide legal advice to those agencies across the Heavy Vehicle National Law.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced paralegal or high-level administration professional to join our team. This is a brand new role, providing critical administration support to the Prosecutions team, and being responsible for evidence review, drafting documents, preparing court paperwork and assisting other senior staff.
This is a permanent position based in our vibrant, modern workspace in Parramatta. Working with a family-friendly team, you will enjoy flexible work from home arrangements and additional leave over the festive period.
What you will do
- Complete administrative tasks such as daily mail and filing.
- Prepare legal documents and correspondence.
- Assist prosecutors with case management.
- Assist prosecutors with rostering court appearances.
- Arrange service of charge paperwork and briefs of evidence.
- Review briefs of evidence to obtain relevant records and certificates.
- Conduct legal research.
- Engage with the community and partner agencies to communicate information around prosecutions.
- Prepare reports on current files and court results.\Adhere to all NHVR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with NHVR internal processes.
- Comply with WH&S policies and procedures and contribute and promote a safe and healthy work environment.
About You
As the ideal candidate you will thrive in a challenging role and have experience in the field of prosecution or other legal or professional environment.
Whether it be reviewing legal documents, preparing legal research, compiling reports, data entry into the case management system and drafting correspondence, you will execute tasks with high-level written communication skills and strong attention to detail.
With great energy, interpersonal and communication skills you will have the ability to deliver a high standard of customer service for internal and external stakeholders.
The role is fluid in nature and the key challenge is managing competing priorities. To be successful in the role, you will be able to demonstrate initiative, work autonomously, and meet deadlines with high level organisational skills.
