About the role
In this role, you will help shape the delivery of the City of Greater Geelong’s Cyber Security program, maximising protection of sensitive information and mitigating cyber threats. This position plays a critical role in the identification, evaluation, and treatment of Cyber Security risk, providing value through alignment of enterprise objectives and security outcomes.
Work type: Permanent, full-time
Classification: $144,000 pa plus superannuation
Key responsibilities include:
- Implementing, operating, and maintaining a diverse range of key Cyber Security controls and platforms, ensuring minimum security baselines are adhered to and performance targets are met.
- Identifying, evaluating, and mitigating Cyber Security risk across the City, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and enterprise security reference architecture.
- Leading and coordinating technical response activities, ensuring timely and effective resolution of security event and incidents.
- Auditing and monitoring the implementation, effectiveness, and performance of key Cyber Security controls ensuring alignment to appropriate security frameworks and industry standards.
- Providing leadership guidance and expertise to IT security and operations teams on Cyber Security best practices.
- Mentoring and guiding team members in building professional competence and collective knowledge to help support future strategic goals.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have demonstrated substantive experience within Cyber Security and relevant experience in a senior Cyber Security role.
Essential Experience:
- A tertiary qualification in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related discipline, and or significant professional experience in a comparable organisation.
- Proven experience in a lead Cyber Security role with a focus on security operations, vulnerability management, and incident response.
- Proven knowledge of security frameworks and regulations such as ISO 27001, VPDSS, Essential Eight, NIST CSF, and Privacy Act.
- Skilled in facilitating risk management workshops across a broad range of stakeholders, often with competing needs.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey and present technical information to non-technical audiences.
