The Smith Family is a children’s education charity that helps young Australians experiencing disadvantage to create better futures for themselves through harnessing the power of education. 

We are seeking a Data Analyst to join our Program Analytics and Reporting Team where you will play a vital role in supporting the monitoring, review and delivery of programs that have a long-lasting impact on children and families. This is a hands-on role, open to early career or experienced Data Analysts that can demonstrate required skills and experience. You’ll become part of a small, collaborative and highly productive team where your analysis and expertise will make a difference every day.


About our role

You will be responsible for:
 

  • Collaborating with stakeholders to understand and translate their data and reporting needs into solutions.

  • Creating dashboards and reports that turn data into useful and actionable insights that inform decision making.

  • Collecting, cleansing, interpreting and analysing data to find answers to specific business questions.

  • Consolidating key data for inclusion in The Smith Family’s Annual Impact Report or program outcome reports.

  • Supporting data related queries and guiding effective data practices and data driven decision making.

  • Developing resources that improve business processes around using and recording data.

About you

As well as passion for the community, you will bring the following:
 

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent work experience.

  • Data extraction and analysis skills using SQL on relational datasets.

  • Experience in Power BI or any data visualisation tool and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (complex formulas and pivot tables).

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills for synthesising and summarising data

  • Curiosity, strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.

  • A continuous improvement mindset, able to progress amidst change and ambiguity.
