Data Analytics Team Lead

The Opportunity

Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) is looking for a Data Analytics Engineering Team Lead who will join the Engineering Strategy & Ops team, who are focused in creating Engineering excellence through diversity, culture, and strategic initiatives.  This exciting role is responsible for leading a team in Data Analytics to delivering high-quality solutions to customers and stakeholders.

This role can be based at Brisbane, Adelaide, Newcastle or Melbourne.

We would welcome applicants who want to work flexibly in both hours and location (including part time work, a mix of home/office and office location including Brisbane, Adelaide, Newcastle or Melbourne). We would like to see that you had led a team before - this is a challenging role at the forefront of engineering and organisational change - we are looking for someone to hit the ground running.

As a Data Analytics Engineering Team Lead, you will

• Lead a team of Data Analytics engineers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
• Gather inputs from customers and stakeholders to understand their requirements and expectations.
• Present high-level overviews of the team's work, progress, and future plans
• Developing a strategy with the team that aligns with the current and future needs of the local business and the enterprise.
• Lead the team in executing the strategy, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of solutions.
• Monitor and track the team's progress, identifying and addressing any issues or obstacles.
• Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, encouraging knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
• Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in Data Analytics engineering, and apply relevant knowledge to enhance the team's capabilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as data scientists, software engineers, and product managers, to ensure seamless integration and delivery of solutions.
• Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on the team's performance, achievements, and challenges.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, computer science, data science, or a related field.
• Experience in leading and managing a team.
• Understanding of Data Analytics concepts, tools, and techniques.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
• Experience in developing and executing strategies based on customer needs and goals.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
• An excellent communicator who can engage and motivate diverse and geographically dispersed teams from various engineering disciplines
• Highly organised and able to work autonomously
• Skilled in leading through influence
