About the role
As a Data Engineer within the Applications team, you will be responsible for managing and optimising our data infrastructure ensuring its security, integrity and accessibility.
You will also be involved in designing and implementing data models, developing ETL pipelines and monitoring database performance to support our data-driven initiatives.
Additionally, you will be instrumental in data warehousing efforts, designing and maintaining a robust data warehouse to meet our analytics and reporting needs. Your expertise in database security, SQL development, and Azure services will be crucial in driving the success of our data initiatives.
This role is a Full-time (37.5 hours per week).
About you
To be successful in this role, you will be a seasoned Data Engineer with exceptional skillset and demonstrated experience in designing and maintaining a robust warehouse, expertise in database security, SQL development and Azure services.
Communication and Interpersonal Responsibilities

- Data Warehousing: Design, implement, and maintain a data warehouse to support our analytics and reporting needs
- Data Modelling and Mapping: Within our reporting systems such as Power BI, Google data studio and established SSAS models, collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and document data models and mappings that align with business requirements
- Security Measures: Implement and maintain robust security measures, including data security protocols, user access controls, and regular security assessments
- Data Governance: Enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure compliance and data quality standards
- SQL Development: Utilise your expertise in SQL query and stored procedure development to extract insights from data efficiently
- ETL and Data Pipeline Development: Design and develop ETL processes and data pipelines to automate data ingestion, transformation, and loading tasks.
- Performance Monitoring and Optimisation: Monitor database performance metrics and optimize query performance and resource utilization as needed
- Documentation: Produce architecture diagrams, data flow diagrams, and relationship diagrams to communicate data infrastructure designs and configurations effectively
Essential
- Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Data Warehousing and ETL/ELT: Excellent working knowledge of data warehousing and ETL/ELT principals, dimensional data modelling
- Database Security and Administration: Strong experience in database security implementation and administration
- Microsoft BI Stack: Experience using the Microsoft BI stack including Microsoft SQL Server, SSAS, SSRS, SSIS, and T-SQL
- Integration tools: Experience with integration tools (Ideally Azure Data Factory)
- Structured and Semi-structured Data: Experience in both structured and semi-structured data (JSON, Cosmos, XML)
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Problem Solving and Troubleshooting: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address data-related issues efficiently
- Power Platform: Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform for building low-code applications and workflows
- Data Vault 2.0: Experience implementing Data Vault 2.0 methodology
- Microsoft Fabric: Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric
