Our Telecommunications Systems Engineering team have a permanent opportunity for a Telecommunications Systems Officer (Data Network Engineer).  This role works with a team of experienced Engineers and Specialists to deliver and support significant programs of work including QR’s Major Projects within Cross River Rail and European Train Control System. 

  About the role:

Working as part of the team to deliver effective and efficient telecommunications services for Queensland Rail, this role will be primarily working on medium to large projects where you will be the Data lead. 

Some of the key tasks will involve but not limited to:

  • Prioritising work to support multiple projects, occasional faults, attending site, updating or redesigning new drawings. 
  • Producing new estimates, configurations, submitting changes to Telecommunication Change Control and handover documentation. 
  • Working closely with key stakeholders provide technical support on key projects. 
  • Coach, mentor and support team members. 

  About you:

  • The ideal candidate would come from an OT data background with excellent skills in Cisco and Juniper products. 
  • In-depth experience in MPLS and Juniper firewalls would be an advantage. 
  • You will have an understanding of multiple vendor products including Cisco, Juniper, F5, Gigamon, vSphere, SolarWinds and wireless technologies. 
  • Able to work autonomously as well as part of a team. 
  • As this a senior role in the team, you would also be assisting other team members, when required. 

Location and other important information:

  • Office is located in Brisbane CBD
  • Work can involve travel within Queensland and possibly working away on occasions.
  • Our standard working hours are 38 hour per work week Monday to Friday, however there will be requirement for pre-planned/ad-hoc weekend work, outside hours/on call roster to support technical works. 
  • Compensation for approved overtime and outside hours work will apply.
