The Opportunity
Due to internal growth, we are looking for a skilled Data Engineer to join our team. As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the availability, reliability, and efficiency of our data systems, enabling data-driven decision-making and insights across the organisation.
Your day-to-day
- Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into our data warehouse or data lake.
- Ensure data quality and integrity throughout the pipeline.
- Integrate data from multiple sources and formats, ensuring compatibility and consistency across datasets.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and provide solutions that meet their needs.
- Identify and address performance bottlenecks in data pipelines and systems.
- Implement optimisations to improve data processing speed, resource utilisation, and overall system performance.
- Design and implement data models to support business requirements and analytical use cases.
- Optimise data structures for performance, storage, and query efficiency.
- Collaborate effectively with business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver data solutions that drive business insights and value.

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following skills and experiences:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering or related roles, with strong proficiency in database systems, ETL processes, and data modeling
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, or Scala
- Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Microsoft Fabric and distributed computing frameworks is a plus
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is desirable
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Willing to obtain a Working with Children Check
