As the Data Governance Lead you will be a part of our IT Security and Risk team. The Data Governance Lead is responsible for implementing, maintaining and improving Data Governance frameworks, policies and procedures. Essential to this role will be your ability to work effectively as a change agent with a wide range of stakeholders and a in multidisciplinary team to deliver the firm's Data Governance strategy.
This role can be based in Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne.
As a Data Governance Lead you will:
- Lead the design, proposal and implementation of security controls at Allens. Initiate and manage projects to deliver solutions to the firm that align with the strategic plan.
- Monitor and analyse the security and information systems infrastructure to ensure it complies with industry accepted practices, the firm’s policies, and is used effectively to identify risks and threats associated with its use.
- Support the operation of the firm's Information security Management System.
- Research and recommend new technologies, propose new efficiencies and be mindful of cost-effectiveness.
- Manage key client and stakeholder relationships by building a professional reputation with data leads, system operational leads, risk practitioners and legal to ensure that the firm complies with its policy and regulatory requirements for Data Governance/management.
- collaborate effectively with colleagues and business stakeholders to influence and effect outcomes, and foster a collaborative and collegiate atmosphere.
About you
You will have:
- Experience in a large corporate environment preferred.
- Experience in Data Governance, data management, or a related field.
- Experience with program and change management within a professional services environment.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Experience defining and implementing Data Governance and compliance strategies.
- Sound knowledge of data quality and data security principles.
- An inquisitive nature, and a willingness to explore ideas and prototype solutions.
- Experience in the analysis of both business processes and the design of technology based solutions.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills required; as well as excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong knowledge of Data Governance frameworks, policies, and standards, as well as applicable regulatory requirements including the Australian Privacy Act.
- Industry certifications will be highly regarded.
