Job description
Your capabilities:- Defining and governing data modelling and design standards, tools, best practices, and related development for enterprise data models
- Developing best practices for standard naming conventions and coding practices to ensure consistency of data models.
- Creating and maintaining conceptual, logical and physical data models along with corresponding metadata
- Evaluating different data models and physical databases for variances and discrepancies
- Optimizing and updating logical and physical data models to support changes in source systems, storage or consumption.
- Building an understanding of complex business concepts and processes and develops logical representations of them as entities, attributes and relationships to suit a variety of use cases, including creating a temporal representation where required.
- Collaborating with data engineers on an appropriate physical data model to balance the needs of cost efficiency and performance based on the use cases for the data.
- Defining an integrated view of data where there are multiple systems storing data about the same entity, either concurrently or over time. As a member of the Data team, you will support several common responsibilities:
- Participating in cross-functional delivery teams to work on larger initiatives.
- Supporting ad-hoc requests for data modelling engagement as part of a BAU capacity allocation
- Proactively identifying opportunities for the Data team to add value to other business units through our existing and emerging capabilities.
- Maturing our data modelling capabilities through aligning with best practice, including the mentoring of other data specialists
- Bringing non-technical stakeholders onto the data journey and managing their expectations
