The Collections Services Group is responsible for the development, management, and preservation of the AIATSIS Collection. The Group manages, describes, preserves, and digitises the AIATSIS Collection.
About the Program Area
The Collection Management Program sits within the Collection Services Group. Collection Management consists of the Archival Collections (Audiovisual, Photographic and Manuscript) and Collection Transformation units. Key operational activities of the program include cataloguing, accessioning, and describing the AIATSIS Audiovisual, Photographic and Manuscript collections to enhance discoverability of, and access to, these collections for all Australians. The Program is also responsible for delivering the Collection Transformation program which aims to reshape the work of Collection Services Group through new collection systems, workflows, and processes. Collection Management works closely with Collection Development and Care, Collection Preservation and Digitisation, and Collection Access teams to support the discoverability and accessibility of the AIATSIS collection for all Australians.
About the Role
This role supports the development and practice of Data Quality for AIATSIS Collection metadata.
The key duties of the position include
- lead the remediation and migration of critical metadata that provides description and management of the AIATSIS Collection using established standards and professional practice.
- developing and implementing prioritised data migration activities for the future Collection Management and Digital Asset Management Systems in consultation with colleagues in Collection Services Group and Digital Services and the selected vendor.
- provide Project Support for the management and implementation of the Collections Transformation Program.
- support engagement activities with key stakeholders.
- support system implementation activities such as user testing, configuration, and vendor liaison.
- report writing, program governance, and other administration tasks.
